An Astrofest cat's paw

Well it's smoky and hazy outside, and my cat got it's balls chopped off today, so what else am I going to do other than process some Astrofest NGC6334 goodness

This is my second attempt at NGC6334. My last attempt with much more data but from a light polluted sky and with a camera not sensitive at all to Ha wasn't all that good.

I present 3h 50min worth of 10min exposures of the Cat's Paw for your viewing pleasure. Sadly this was the day I was battling with eggy stars at astrofest. All the tweaking and aligning in the world didn't help when the grub screws on the mount weren't done up properly allowing some play in the Dec axis No matter, got an image anyway.

Looks good, Chris. Perhaps you could rename NGC 6334 the Cat's Bollocks in honour of your poor moggie

I feel your pain tracking down small mount niggles. You can spend days chasing your tale with minimal results. And then presto you found the issue and you kick yourself about not finding it earlier. It almost takes the fun out of astronomy and then you get it all working, slewing, tracking and guiding like a champ and it is all worth it. Like fishing I suppose when you bag the big one.

Great image I can barely see the issue if you hadn't said anything about eggy stars I wouldn't have pick it, but if your like me it stands out like a sore thumb because you know it is there.

Justin.

Thanks all.

Justin, more painful than the fault was when I found it. While packing up AFTER astrofest. Oh well.
