TSX Supermodel

I recently upgraded my imaging pc. The new one is 64 bit, has more grunt and runs on Windows 7. The old one ran on XP as I found it stable and reliable.

The downside to a new pc is loading all the software, matching drivers and configuring all the settings.

Last night I finally determined to compile a new TPoint model. Thinking it would take ages, I set it to take 192 points and toddled off to watch a movie with the missus.

About 90 minutes later I was surprised to find it was all done. RMS of about 100 arcseconds. Ordinary. Click on Supermodel and BLAM - 16 arcsecond RMS. how good is that!

I suspect it's a combination of a good sized model to start with, the faster pc and perhaps using the FSQ rather than the RC8.

All I can say is - Super!

Pete

It'll do that with my EdgeHD 14 as well and it's no refractor by any means. Best I've ever done with the EdgeHD 14 is 9.8 arc seconds RMS. Not sure if I believe it. I think it's rather optimistic. I've seen people get below 8 arc seconds with a stiff refractor.

Certainly is possible to get under 8 but probably a challenge for mobile set ups. I'm getting 6.5 arcsec with a permanent 12.5" RCOS/PME set up after a 305 point map. TSX Supermodel is the bomb!

Similar results here with a cdk12.5 and PME. Supermodel certainly makes the job easy.

Whoa, those are some tidy low value model terms you have there too. Can anyone beat that?

Mind you, I suppose that when we get to that level it's so good that it doesn't much matter how much better we get it.

Fantastic job guys.

I am amazed by those results guys. RMS of 6.5 and 9.8 - Excellent work.

I'm tempted to run a larger model to see if I can improve on what I have. Then its on to PEC I guess.
