Who let the cat out. Yeah... Right. Well if that's all you can do its not really funny.
As one who watched the first landing live - and Armstrong's first steps - it's still offensive. The world was a very different place - no conspiracy theorists, for starters.
In some ways I hold StarWars and all that followed fro Hollywood (Hollowood IMHO) as largely responsible for destroying the reality of this achievement. Gen X/Y/Z think it is easy, that it is trivial, and have no idea of the magnitude of NASA's achievement in that era. To have watched it live is still a rare privilege and anyone poking fun at it is merely displaying grotesque ignorance and disrespect.
I also watched the moon landings as well, all of them.
I still have the newspaper clippings of all the missions as well as the mission patches, I can assure you that I also see the importance of these missions and what man did and the fact that we still haven't been back or even moved onto Mars.
If you read into the joke I was poking fun at the people who think it was all done on a movie set.
Unlike yourself, I can take a joke and see the funny/ lighter side of things.
Well said Ric.
Some points that were mentioned on a National Geographic documentary:
6% of US Americans believe the Moon Landings to be a hoax and 25% of British share the same opinion.
A very valid defence is that at the time the Russians were in a race to the Moon. Yet there was no challenge from them regarding the authenticity of the Moon Landings.

Deep breath and relax Wavy, I too watched in awe as that which was deemed impossible suddenly was achieved, with about the same amount of computer power as my scuba dive-computer! Watching these astronauts when the rockets were first tested and kept blowing up on the launchpad ...... it takes a very special person to jump on board the 3rd one not to blow up.........
My heroes ............ three men who made an enormous impact on me ............Gus Grissom, Jim Lovell and Gene Krantz.
I have some sympathy with Wavy's view. I bet whoever created that image has little idea of what a monumental achievement the moon landings were. Maybe a more appropriate tag line would be:

Well said Ric!
I also watched the moon landings, all of us old farts showing our age now!
I do feel very privileged to have witnessed these events!
Cheers,
Justin.
PS. I know it's Einstein but it's the only old guy I could find.
Perhaps it's the 'cat who walks through walls'? In which case it has every right to be there. I remember only the last moon landing, so I'm not as distinguished as some here, and only managed a smirk at the image.
Even Buzz Aldrin has started to satirize the hoax theorists, (admittedly he did punch someone over the hoax question a while back), so if he can laugh about it now, I think we all can.
Cheers,
Andrew.
