After 9 months of wind, cloud and rain I finally got a chance to test my new ST10. Had some problems getting it square in the OrionOptics 2" focuser as it is heavy and as the screws tighten around the MPCC can alter it if not done carefully. I went for sensitivity with ST10 over 8300 sensor. ST10 seems to get the fainter stuff way better than the 314L+ with less noise. Blooming spikes pretty minimal in narrowband, not tried RGB yet.
First image 20x3mins in Ha on a typically windy night.
Second image bi-narrowband 5x10mins subs each for Ha OIII.
Third image crop of bright stars bow shock in Ha gas below 2 bright stars.
The detail is astounding! I love the bow shock in the last image and the second reminds me of those summer storm fronts we have here in Brisbane. Just amazing...
Nothing short of sensational John. I don't think I've seen such detail in the OIII structure before. Many simply present it as a bright feature losing much of the detail. Love the up close and personal view. Thanks for sharing.
