NGC6357 - The Lobster

or War and Peace?
Diffuse nebula in Scorpius roughly 8000 light years away.

Captured using a Canon D60a and the Ed100, I managed to blend in some HA with the RGB to help dig out some of the structure.

51 subs at 360, ISO 400 for the RGB
35 subs at 600, ISO 800 for the Ha.

Large version

NGC6357 Lobster/ War and peace nebula

Fun and games with colour profiles. Worked the image in CS6 using Adobe 1998, not a sniff of clipping. Last step was to convert profile to SRGB, not an iota of change in the image itself but histogram shows as clipped. Odd. But it looks fine

Thanks for looking. Hints and tips more than welcome.

Nice job David!

Very smooth image and good contrast.

It certainly a tricky beast to process!

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Justin. Used yours for some of the reference for processing. Needs a re-shoot at some point though as I really must learn to pay more attention to framing.

yay! Have had the finger hovering over doing a repro for the last day or so but having now been told the colour is funky, am leaving as is. I quite like it too.

Moving on.
