M17 from Mt Campbell Observatory

Here is last nights effort

This time it is all AP152EDF data (no 80ED) all shot on the one night and
with only slight winds this time but unfortunately bad seeing again DOH! and the moon was up for the Luminace...double DOH!

Shame about the seeing, which has been generally not good of late :-(

Colour (LHaR)RGB

As always= top image Mike.

I noticed a interesting dark line going diagonally across the top left corner of the colour image, had never seen it before. Great detail.

Thanks Guys

Thanks Guys

Striker & Matt - the detail would have been better with better seeing (obvious I know). Under good conditions, the 6" Starfire has the capability to produce much better resolution with the 6.5 micron pixels of the SXV-H9 at 1.1"/pixel. This image is about as detailed as I would expect from a small SCT :-(. The seeing "was" awful and the focus star on kept ballooning in and out and jumping around, making precise focus (which I do manually) nearly impossible but hey...it was a lovely clear night and I wasn't gunna lose the oportunity even if it did take ages to focus

Lester - Glad you noticed that fine green star birth gas jet eminating in the top left corner

Mike
