Saturn surrounded by stars and satellites

Saturn last night. Seeing was quite poor so I decided to go wide for an impression of the scene.

Thanks for looking,

Tom

nice one tom, really like the widefield.
your close up is about equal with the best saturn pic i've been able to capture / process. i've often wondered what other more experienced people would be able to get out of my data. you mention that the seeing was poor this gives me hope that my saturn outcomes are perhaps predominatnly due to (the melbourne) conditions rather than my lack of processing skills.

clear skies!

Russell I use the same settings and get massively different results. Seeing is far more of an influence than many realise. I've learned that lesson. You will notice excellent seeing when it happens. For me, Jupiter has been very difficult and I thought it was equipment/technique until a night of fantastic seeing showed was is actually possible.

Stick with it!

Nice work Tom, you’ve made this genre your own and produce really inspirational results with that DSLR.

Cheers

Dennis
