Rho Ophiuchus with New Rings
Finally a clear night. Collected 18x4 minutes in RGB of Rho Ophiucus.
I was not happy with the red data as it seemed out of focus so I collected it again after green and blue around the zenith. Of course high thin cloud then arrived just before acquiring a new target to stop all the fun.
Here is a large image x1.5 native pixel size 9MB

The colours are real as collected. I have put up the stacked unstretched data for others to process. It is registered RGB fits.
Here 38MB

Tough data indeed - trying not to black clip it, but proving awkward. BEAUTIFUL data though - reminds me how hard I had to work to get similar data myself.

Here is my attempt. Thanks again for making your data available to learn from

I think the data has colour gradients as my site does have light pollution.

My attempt - after I taught myself for the first time how to merge R, G and B channels (being an OSC user, it was a learning curve!)
Maybe a tame attempt compared to others...

Merging RGB is easy-peasy in Pixinsight - open each colour FIT file, then using the "Channel Combination" process tool select the relevant files from the drop down list and hit "Apply". Bingo!
I'm guessing its pretty easy in StarTools as well. Dunno about Photoshop

I am redoing flats. This could be part of the problem. I did have the optical train in bits.

It is easy in PS too - just had to learn how!

Grrr... my "T-Rex" (the dark nebula at bottom right) keeps fading to complete black upon compression. In PS, there is distinct tonal variation.
Ah well.
Yes Bart, seems a good bit of gradient - I had to be aggressive with the green removal, and using gradient removal techniques.

Cool - trying again now.
PS: excellent - got it this time.
Here's my crack at it. Cropped.
Man... I had a hard time getting any color out of it. Bit of gradients in the pic. Big one

I DID manage to get colour out of it (after a LONG LONG process), but then I was getting black clipping as seen bottom right.
Interesting variations with the same data.

A Bit interesting to have a Hit, but my PS CS3 cant open these fits in a pink fit ? Is this because these pink fits are in 64bit ? ? ?
