Suggest widefield lens 85 - 100mm

I have a Canon 200mm prime for widefield and looking for prime lenses in the 85 - 100mm mark for the same purpose. But not with a view to spending thousands. Two Canon lenses recommended by Ken Rockwell are the 85mm EF f1.8 and the 100mm f2 EF or the 100mm macro - not L lenses.

In the same range, what is comparable in Nikon or other brands that might be worth looking at? No experience with other than my 200mm. Full frame camera.

I have a couple of Pentax 6x7 lenses that I am currently using, a 75mm and a 300mm, both f:4. I'm about to get a Pentax 6x7 105 or 150mm for a bit better FOV. There are a lot of these lenses on eBay - .com more than .com.au, and are relatively cheap. Adapters are also available to fit them to many camera brands. I use mine with a QSI683ws and focus with a stock Robofocus motor/controller.

In my experience the 100 macro isn't very sharp wide open, the 85 is awesome and super sharp and I know nothing of the 100 f2.

if i remember was it martin P had trouble with the 85 wide open also -cant remember hat it had to be stopped to , though mst lenses are good below 2.8, some even need f4 - thats why the old manual lenses are an option

Thank you all. That narrows it down.

I had a look at the second hand market in Medium Format as suggested. There are several Hasselblad 80mm in the price range. Fotodiox make 2 EOS adapter types.

Had a look at the Pentax lenses as well. I'm not sure how the Hasselblad compares to the Canon 85mm or the Pentax at this stage, but I have heard good reports.


Edit. Apparrently, from what I read, the 100mm Hasselblad is much better than the 80.
