Partially Eclipsed at Kilcoy

I have a wibbly wobbly time lapse of the Eclipse here. Taken with this set up. Canon 550D, Sigma 70-300mm on a badly aligned Polarie. One shot every 15 seconds turned into grab as clear a shot as I can, when I can. LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps4ns...ature=youtu.be
The two images were taken through the ED80 using the 550D.

It was an amazing experience. I'd set up at a lookout, overlooking Lake Somerset.
I had 3 truck drivers, 2 motor bike riders, 3 day trippers, 2 grey nomads and a lady photographer and her boyfriend all stop and have a look through the telescope, take pictures using the solar specs to filter their lenses.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and they did too.

Oh, and the last Eclipse shot was taken using my Panasonic Lumix FZ200 using full 98x zoom (24x optical zoom, the rest is digital zoom) hand held, no tripod.

Sound like you had a great time JJJ, events like this really do capture the attention of the general public. Just never know, a chance look through a scope could create a whole new interest for some.

Regards
Trevor

What a delightful story Jeanette!

Excellent photos and sweet memories to treasure for those cloudy nights. No doubt those lucky travellers will spread the word near and far, of this lovely astronomy Lady they met on their journey!

Cheers

Dennis

Nice work Jeanette,

I had about 60 or so kids at school peering through the cloud with solar glasses and a couple of scopes. Typical weather but the kids really enjoyed it.

Some kids have even asked if I can set up some scopes on Monday....it's the school cross country and they don't feel like running so they want it rained out. I should start charging money to bring rain.

No one in my area was interested, which I classify as a good thing: I've had idiots touch things on scopes that wasn't supposed to ever have a finger print on..I'm an 'astro-loner' for a reason

Nice results, JJJ
