Twas nice to have some clear skies last night.
Managed to get 3 hours of imaging in before clouds rolled in.
I stacked the data in two different ways, the first ended up making the image look very cold and anaemic. The second is made from combining the 2 different stacks. It's added more warmth.
Boy I got some weird colour gradients happening on this one. With halos of green and magenta around the galaxy. Fixed them up ok, but have no idea where they came from.
It definitely needs more data added so I can push the processing more. I was also experimenting with upping the ISO to 800. And possibly this is where my difficulties processing came from. So the next lot will be captured at ISO400.

Scope ED127
Camera CDS1100D
Stacked in DSS and process in CS3.

I really Like it JJ, it feels warm!
Would be interested in your processing flow as I like what you do with the background/star colours. Ever written it down for others to peruse?
Cheers
Graham.

The star colours....
I "select" the "colour range" of a few of the smallest stars. Making sure there is a variety of colours, then adjust the "fuzziness" to the right so as most of the stars are selected.
Then I "expand" the selection by 2 pixels and then judiciously boost the saturation across the board. Sometimes I might give the yellow channel an extra boost.
If the DSO in the image, which would have been caught up in the selection process, gets over saturated, then select just the DSO and desaturate the same amount.
Or you can just use Caboni Actions "Increase Star Colour".

Looks very good! I would definitely be happy with that. Maybe slightly more saturation but definitely nothing to criticize.

Cheers

Steve
