Aquarid Meteors

Hi all,

I thought I'd post my recent attempts at capturing the recent Aquarid Meteors. I hope I've placed this in the correct forum?!

I spent the last two evenings freezing my butt off whilst my camera ran hot in one of the paddocks at my folks place near Stratford, Victoria.

Some of the images are from the early hours of the 6th of May and some are from early this morning. Most have been cropped, rotated, saturated and edited every other which way imaginable, especially the ones taken this morning. I had the Intervelometer on my Nikon D7000 running hot for several hours both nights with varied results. I found using my Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8 fisheye to be too wide to capture the detail I would have liked, yet the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 to be not wide enough to capture all the action. Nonetheless I really enjoyed the experience, despite my family thinking (perhaps knowing?) that I am a complete nutter!

I don't think this mornings show (7/5/2013) was quite as impressive as the previous night, yet the ZHR seemed to be higher in number this morning. From where I was sitting the shower seemed to peak closer to sunrise than the previous night, not to mention the light from the crescent Moon. That said, I was considerably more tired this morning than I was the night before. All in all, a great experience!! Thanks for looking and thanks to all the awesome people who frequent this forum, there be lotsa knowledge floatin' around here! Yay and stuff!

This is probably the best one I managed to grab, nothing amazing, but okay:

Beautifully captured Andrew!

Love the Milky Way in the last one. Magnificent. Heard the D7000 is pretty good. You had better luck than I did in seeing any but I'm in the 'burbs.

Well done!

Amanda.

Hey Andrew

Excellant shots.

Btw when you use your D7000 outside, do you use something to protect it from the dew and moisture? I have the same and am wanting to use it for photographing the skies but am afraid I might get moisture inside it.

Thank you.
Regards
Niv
