M83 and The Prawn

Both images taken last night.
Scope ED127
Camera CDS1100D

The Prawn is just over an hour of exposure time.
I'd processed it in colour, then, for a bit of a lark I processed it to accentuate the Ha regions. It's got me wondering what I could capture using a not so narrow Ha filter.

M83 is 1hr and 40 minutes of data.

Both images I think are slightly out of focus but hey, it was a nice night to be outside. Will need to redo my drift alignment too. As the night wore on my stars kept getting eggier and eggier until I could only get 2 minute sub. The problem being, I'd just moved my mount (and it's 3 pavers) to a new spot in the back yard. I think it's still settling in.

Looking good there JJJ, what ISO were you operating at and time of sub.

Cheers Petra d.

I assume these are cropped JJJ?
I think the images are better straight from the scope but really are excellent with colour and framing.
I think Marc is on a foodie trip ATM

M83 is a 100% crop, and the Prawn is almost a full frame.
Petra, I ended up shooting at ISO1600 and they are mostly 3 minute subs.
If it's clear tonight I'll work on my alignment so I can get some half decent exposure times happening.

Pretty amazing what can be put together with subs like that

The Prawn is the best, the colour version is nice and subtle (if you like that ) and I like the B&W version too. M83 looks like it was affected by the issues you refer to but it also looks like your sharpening approach may have spiderweb'ised the detail a tad still, looks ok none the less and well worth the effort to get out and image ...which is more than I can say for yours truly who chickened out and watched two movies with the family instead...letting a beautiful clear, still, cold and dry night go begging

Very nice photos Jeanette.

I also like your coloured Prawn the best.

Ross.
