My First Solar Image

Hi everyone,

Managed to borrow a Lundt 100 (thanks Meridan State College) to show the kids at the school I teach at what the sun looks like through a decent solarscope from Monday to Wednesday this week and managed to get cloud for every lunch break - typical....

But what I also did was to borrow a DMK 41 (thanks Paul) and do some imaging outside of the breaks (also known as classtime). I have attached my first attempt that I processed in front of my year 11 Physics class. I was wrapt but I have some learning to do in processing.

Think I pushed the wavelets too far, you know how hard it is to stop once you start getting detail. Thought I'd post anyway, I'd love some advice from the masters.

Well done!
A great first image....
Yes, a little "over cooked" but still tasty!

Nothing wrong with that Adam.
Processing will come with practice, be assured.

Really good work for your first light Adam! As Ralph said, it really is practice to see what works better for you. As far as tips go, I am critical with focus and having plenty of frames to play with helps. Play with the options in the stacking and sharpening program, watch the effects.

a bit of sauce - fixes everything.

with that weapon you mustn't aim half heartily - your doing well, just follow the directions from the main solar guys and avoid everything i do. join solar chat - there is a wealth of information there and you will see a multitude of sins with the stuff i have posted on IIS - learn from my mistakes .
