Hi Everyone,
The name is Dave Moulton I have been invited to the forum by a fellow member Amanda, so just saying hi from the Uk.

I live in North Wales and am passionate about Astrophotography. I hope to pick up some top tips from you guys to improve my images.

If I can figure it out I will add an image taken from home of the witches broom in Cygnus

Cheers guys, very kind of you.
Always something to learn with this astrophotography hobby, always willing to listen to any tips or tricks to improve BTW so feel free to comment

Looking for a Repeatable workflow as very time I visit the same data the pics turn out different. Retaining some star colour in narrowband images would be nice too if anyone has any tips

Cheers

A wonderful image. Very electric. What filters did you use for this?

Retaining star colours in narrowband images is usually done by an RGB set that is added to the narrowband image using layers and masking the stars out of the narrowband and lighten mode on the rgb so the rgb stars show up and the narrowband ones are masked out. Narrowband stars are often smaller than RGB stars so this works pretty well.

I did this here:

How to do a mask for the stars is covered in Louie Atalas free tutorials. Try googling his name.

Greg.

Cheers for the info Greg.

The camera I currently have is a QSI583 the built in filter wheel has five slots so not enough room for RGB as well as narrowband.
Just can't bring myself to swap filters during an imaging run.
I may have to though I guess .
Btw filters used were Astrodon 5nm
I will go take a look at your pics.
Cheers thanks again,

Dave

Welcome Dave. Terrific image, although there do seem to be some compression artifacts.

Sublime shot here Dave - so pleased you joined and nice to see you here on IIS, just joined too myself.

Am not experienced enough to any comments/suggestions on a technical basis - just know that it's one darn good shot.!

Hope to see more of these beauties in the forums..

That's a really great shot. Gorgeous colors. Only wish it was higher in the sky for us too.
