Saturn, 12th April 2013

Here's an image of Saturn from this morning in reasonable seeing.

I've experimented with merging multiple images in WinJupos using the derotation, this result is quite good but you can still see a few artifacts around, especially in the rings, where the merging and derotation doesn't work quite correctly.

Overall it works quite well, and has brought up some nice detail.

regards, Anthony

Thanks all, been putting in lots of time on the scope, trying to get the cooling & collimation as good as I can make it.

A cracker Bird!

Lots of detail and smooth as a baby's bum! Thats what I love about winjupos derotation giving plenty of detail without the noise.

Nicely done Bird, looks like my nice seeing from the previous night moved on over your way.

Nice image Bird, I find Saturn quite tricky to do a perfect image measurement. It seems like a lot of trial and error to get the outline close. At least with Jupiter it's done automatic for you .

In this case I was lucky enough to have two moons in the frame, makes things much easier!

Sadly the derotation code in winjupos doesn't handle or correct the moons, so I ended up with multiple moon images in the result, so I removed them from the image above.

cheers, Bird
