Eta Carina - f/5 refractor

Hey folks,

Heard from a friend that the CCDT67 actually does quite well with refractors (F7.5 and higher). Last night was fairly clear so decided to get some quick test shots. I borrowed my friends 120ED, the scope was operating at F/5.025 from the reducer.

General setup
Mount: NEQ6
Imaging Train: Skywatcher Gold Series 120ED - CCDT67 - OAG - FW (Baader 2" NB set) - QHY9M
Guiding: Lodestar used with a TSOAG9, 1sec guiding
Image processing: Captured in Maxim 5, Dark subtracted and Stacking in DSS, Editing in Photoshop CS3
Ha -> 2*600sec subs

I've attached 100% crops from the corners (Order - Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right) & the original B&W image. I've also added another version where I added some colour, removed some of the stars and sharpened the image slightly. I personally think the fake colour really makes the image pop! But only after did I realise I over did some of the highlight region

The CCDT67 does seem to work quite well, and the framed Eta nicely I think. However up close it is obvious that there must have been some tilt in the CCD, as the distortion isnt even across the image. Might not have been focused too well either. When I was moving to another target I realised the QHY9M had slightly unscrewed itself from the FW, so that probably explains alot! Overall extremely satisfied. I didnt expect so much detail from 2x10min subs either!! Not bad for a semi-APO at ~f/5 I hope this test helped someone! Definitely a bonus if you already have a CCDT67 for your RC

Thought I'd chime back in. Last night I ran another test with the CCDT67, and this time there was no tilt. There was very little distortion at the extreme edges and it was evenly distribute. Wish I had saved the sub grrrr!
