Sidewalk astronomy

Hi all
Just got inside clouds mucked up the night
it was clear earlier so I went out and set up the 10in Dob.
And because its Easter there's a lot of people in the park where I live
So there's always people walking past , so I ask want a look ! , some say no thanks
(I don't get that ) others say yes .
It is surprising how many people have never looked through a telescope .
So I showed some people the usuals that I like.
The Jewel box , Tucana , Jupiter , Orion neb and a double in the pointers , can't think of the name ?.
Its good when they first see Tuc or even the Moon the ooo's and aaa's , wow !
It's a good feeling seeing others amazement
that's all I think

David

Make sure you read spell-check
Should have seen what it recommend for mucked , started with f
Not worried about the spelling I have no idea where commas and such go ! .

lol its all good. least you had the opportunity to see some stars. I'm quite envious of anyone who can at the moment ... 3 months is getting rediculous without seeing them!

lol I only have auto correct on the phone ... it makes me doubt certain things. Ive never been one to criticise punctuation or spelling ... I failed English

either way f or mucked is appropriate :p

Since moving into a new community, it was apparent that many of our new acquaintances had never looked through an astro scope, so after a couple of aborted attempts (read 'clouds/rain') I held a moon party for any interested comers. The first quarter moon obliged, as did Jupiter's moons, the Jewel Box and the Orion nebula. About 25 folks turned up and now, many that weren't able to come are asking when the next one will be.
