How Binoculars Help Overcome Light Pollution

I have had a question posed to me regarding how Binoculars reduce the effects of light pollution. They have said

Isn't light polution intensified along with everything else? I suspect what happens is magnification spreads a small field of light polution over a large field of view while point-source stars are not spread and therefore seem relatively brighter, plus the overall brightness brings dimmer stars over the threshold of perception.

How can I respond to this accurately? It seems that what the person has said sound correct. Is it?

Thanks

actually i see it the other way around, thelarger exit pupil of a binocular in a 7x50 eg exit pupil is 7mm , under heavy light polltion the human eye will not dilate to this level but will stay at 4-5mm -therefore the 7x50 is effectively wasting light gathered, a 10x50 glass is more effective.
