New phenomenon

Does anyone know what the name of that really bright star is that has appeared in the skies over Queensland?

And what is that blue stuff?

I am sure it won't last long, so better race outside and have a look at this strange phenomenon whilst it lasts.

I got to wondering?

Although it is meant to be in jest, it's discussions like this that perpetuates "the myth". Maybe this is how the idea that the Moon affects people and makes them go crazy came about? They only noticed them when it was Full Moon, just as we only notice the clouds when we want to do some observing or when we get our new toy.

It's all rather inane really.

Hi Peter,

Myth? Its no myth. (Said with extra venom LOL)

Its fact Purely and simply. Boy-oh-boy. Some people just don't learn.

I suppose you also deny that daylight saving was not causing the global warming. Anyone can see the logic in that!

Cheers

Daylight saving? What's that?

So, since WA doesn't have daylight saving, does that mean we are the "coolest" state? Oooh, just wait for the parochialism to begin.

Cheers Pete

I think you are going to see less and less of these phenomena in the future. Cloud computing will eventually fill up all the available space and all the hot air coming from "you no where" will tend to increase the problem of fogging.

Yes, Canberra generates all the hot air - especially Gillard's nauseating voice and Abbott's stupidity

Peter, you forget QLD also does not have Daylight Saving - afterall, it would make the curtains fade faster, and the cows won't know what time to come in for milking

Well, the phenomenon lasted most of the day - lovely light temperature to do a fashion photo shoot - grass SO green and lush, and colours so bright, with filtered light through the occasional cloud... bumped it up with a gold reflector and it was just DIVINE - I'll post some later on. Only a 4 hour shoot for a wedding fashion designer.

Not good enough for any astro tonight, except maybe some bino viewing. I suppose Lemmon has moved into Sculptor or somewhere by now... it was near the SCP last I saw it

Enough holes in the clouds... got a glimpse on Lemmon, then shifted to Jupiter in all it's glory and Orion through the binocs.

God I miss astronomy... hurry up winter, PLEASE!

Hi Brian,

Isn't it the wet season in NT anyway Brian? We have cloud too now, after quite a long spell of clear nights though. Just hope it rains though, the garden needs a good watering.

Cheers Peter

EDIT: Just went out to water the garden and it is another clear night tonight.

Hey, lots of sparkly diamonds in the sky !

Looks like Gillards media circus has created so much hot air over Sydney they've vaporised the clouds
