@ Lester!

Keep it simple: someone buy one, & if it takes better Joop pics than a toucam or neximage, Lester & I will buy 2!

Thanks Anthony....food for thought.

Got one in the mail, as in the new camera, or the advice about the new camera?

Looks great, but how much is it?

Nah, just got the newsletter by email, no such luck as to get a camera... but that's got me thinking I might check with PGR, maybe they'd send me one for testing? Probably not...

There's no mention of cost yet, as usual the real product won't appear for a while yet.

regards, Bird

Oh bugger, I was thinking it might be an alternative to the DMK. I've emailed them to find out prices, but after what you say above, I'm not hopeful.

I emailed them asking for a price list for the Flea2, and here it is:

Quote:
IEEE 1394b Lo-Res Flea2 Camera:
FL2-COL-KIT 640 x 480 Color Flea2 Development Kit $795.00 USD
FL2-BW-KIT 640 x 480 BW Flea2 Development Kit $795.00 USD
FL2-COL-C 640 x 480 Color Flea2 Camera $695.00 USD
FL2-BW-C 640 x 480 BW Flea2 Camera $695.00 USD

IEEE 1394b Hi-Res Flea2 Camera:
FL2-HICOL-KIT 1024 x 768 Hi-Res Color Flea2 Development Kit $895.00 USD
FL2-HIBW-KIT 1024 x 768 Hi-Res BW Flea2 Development Kit $895.00 USD
FL2-HICOL-C 1024 x 768 Hi-Res Color Flea2 Camera $795.00 USD
FL2-HIBW-C 1024 x 768 Hi-Res BW Flea2 Camera $795.00 USD

**All software development kits that work with the Flea2 Development Kit such as FlyCaptureŽ are included in the price. The software can be downloaded from PGR’s support web page.
*Please note prior to ordering additional cameras, one Flea2 Development Kit must be purchased.
*Please note the Flea2 cameras do not include lenses.
Prices do not include duties, taxes, shipping or insurance. PGR reserves the right to change pricing at any time. This price list is for the sole use of the person and/or the company it is disclosed to and should not be redistributed or published without a prior written consent of PGR. Lead times are subject
to availability, please contact us for a quote and the current lead-time.
Still US$200-$300 more expensive than the DMK.

I don't think there's enough change in the specs to warrant that additional money. yeh it can do 60fps, but it would have to be a very bright object to support that framerate cause it would be very dim.

What are your thoughts Anthony, when compared to the DMK?
