NGC 6188 with ED80
After seeing Paul Mayo's beautifull image posted today I had to give it a go myself but with a wider field.
12 x 4 minute unguided images at ISO 800
Taken from my house Brisbane with the moded 350D and ED80 using the UHC-S filter.
Processed the same as always...imagesplus and PhotoshopCS.
I did a star reduction in Imagesplus because I found there were that many stars in the image it took away from the nebula itself....hope you like the slight modification to the image.

Thanks guys.....really enjoying playing around with this modded 350D.
I just wished my LX200R OTA would hurry up...could be a few more weeks away now...and also will be nice to get back into some autoguided images.

Hi Striker,
wow. That's a really good image. Good work.
Shouldn't this nebula have a name? like say the "Tasmania Nebula" or the "Ayres Rock Nebula" - it kinda looks like tasmania in your wide field image (well kinda...)
I'm sure if it were a northern sky object it would be called something like the californian nebula or north america nebula.

Super shot Tony - 4 mins unguided huh well that shows me the way it might be the answer to my autoguiding worries - don't guide...hmmm.....how long does it take you to get polar aligned well enough for 4 mins unguided?

Oh I rather hope we are, Amateurs - from the French or Latin root - literally a lover of .... certainly describes how I feel about Astronomy, except of course when my freaking mount won't work ...

I just got back from our 3 night stay in Melboune and first thing I did was turn the computer on...lol
Who said Melbourne was cold...the weather was beatifull...had a great time but glad to be back home.
I will post a comparison image Lester...just give me some time to get organised.
John....My set up is permanantly mounted so it their is no polar or drift aligning..it did take me around 3 months to get it as close as it is now but that was due to my poor drift aligning skills.....thank god I dont have to drift align every time I want to image.
