When I flew at Jandakot, WA, teaching night circuits, we often got lasered by morons on the ground. Called up Perth Tower once (JT was closed/after hours) and the cops responded QUICKLY.
My friend was doing night instrument flights in a Baron. HE wore glasses. Got a direct hit. Had to take a week off while his eye healed.
Is it amazing thing every time the press flash these idiots across our TV screen , newspaper and radio station all the moron in Australia come out and do a copy cat act .If the press would shut-up about it, and do what they when someone top them self and say nothing these people wouldn't do it.
Is it just me or is their an amazing inconsistency in the penalties for this behaviour? For what looks like very similar behaviour one magistrate gives a $550 fine while another dishes out 6 months. I'm not suggesting which is more appropriate but surely such a difference in penalty shouldn't be just the luck of the draw.
