IC2948 and Lambda cent

We actually have had a clear night here - yes, I know that's hard to credit but there it was. A quick project was called for to settle in my WO FLT110 which I had listed for sale without success and have therefore decided to resurrect.

This is 5 minute subs in LRGB (60,30,30,30) with a taste of Ha thrown in for good measure. SX_VRH16 CCD, Astrodon filters, all sitting on a Titan.

Hope it looks more or less as it should.

Peter

Excellent rendition of ic2948.

This is often called the Running Chicken but few people can see where this comes from as the Running Chicken needs a 3 degree field centered on Lambda Centaurus for full effect.

Nice image Pete. The FLT110 sometimes had a TEC oiled triplet lens.

Clear skies have been rather rare lately.

Really? I always pictured it as per the image attached.
I'll have another look.

I see this PBase image is progagbly what Barry means:

Blast - another theory shot to bits.

I just had a quick look at the Ha on this. It's only 20 minutes worth but reasonably sharp. For what it's worth!

Yes Peter
That's the one that shows the running chicken which isn't ic2948 Your picture is ic2948 correctly. I don't know if you can remember far enough back but there was a brand of salt, I think it was Cerebus that showed a picture of a boy (?) chasing a running chicken with a salt cellar in his hand. It looks like he is trying to put salt on its tail. So as kids we were told that to catch a chicken you had to put salt on its tail.

By the way that Ha is great. When Ha is included it seems to sharpen up the image

Very nice image Peter

I had a crush on your scope, I checked it out every day hoping no one would buy it until I could afford it. I'm glad your keeping it. Once I've saved enough if you still have it I will pm you
