Free email address

I am changing to a different server that does not have a free email address facility. Any comments on a good free email address that could be used with
Microsoft Outlook Express?

I'd stop using outlook express and go to gmail.

But you can use Gmail with Outlook Express if you want to:

I also use an ISP that doesn't provide a POP server.
I tried gmail when it was first launched but didn't like it.
Sure it's probably improved a lot, but I didn't like the idea of data mining either.

I ended up simply downgrading my original dial-up ISP account (one I had before joining the current ISP) back to a cheap $10 per month plan which preserved my whole family's original 6 email addresses. Worked well as I didn't have to send out bulk email for each email account notifying everyone of the change or having to change email address for any of the countless forum's and other things I have registered with over the last two decades.
I just use current ISP to access the old ISP's POP server and Bob's yer uncle.
I even access it thru the phone.

Yes, it is a real pain to have to change your email address.
In my case it is unavoidable as I am with the old Hutchinson
"three" network which has been taken over by "vodaphone"
and it is not possible to upgrade as I wish and it is likely to
be turned down in the near future. The free email address
provided by "three" cannot be transferred over to "vodaphone".
With more foresight I should have gone for a transferable
email address in the first place but I did not anticipate
this takeover. It appears that the service providers do
a lot of churning for their own benefit with little regard
to the effect on their customers. When I worked for Telstra
would you believe that one clause in their "mission statement"
was "Customer First policy" (hollow laughter).

If you are using gmail for work purposes too, you can download a software from google that completely syncs all your contacts, emails and calender from outlook to gmail and vice versa.

have you had a look at "paid - mail only" providers

my son owns Jumpnet.com.au and he does domain and "mail only" hosting

he is charging $20 a year for mail accounts

Thanks for the further advice. I have decided to go with gmail.
Meru, you may be able to help me further. I will normally use gmail
on my home PC but I would like to be able to use it anywhere on my
IPad. If this is possible how would I set it up?
