How critical is eye placement/relief on Delos 10mm

I am after a 10mm eye piece to be used both on my Pentax ED65 spotting scope, but also to do duty on my 150mm reflector.
On my spotting scope it will be used when laying down during target shooting, so I would prefer the eye position wasnt critical as some have complained a bit with the 10mm Pentax XW. Have any of you tested the Delos 10mm to see how forgiving it is of eye position?
I know it is not realy related to telescopes, but you fellas seem to be the ones with most experience with these eye pieces.

Hi Rod,

I have both and from my personal experience I find both to be ok. I can observe with and without glasses.

Both have an ER of 20mm and remember that both have adjustable eye cups/guards.

Without going into details, (which are covered extensively here on IIS and other sites), you really can't go wrong with either.

I am in no way a Televue over Pentax supporter (or vice versa) but personally I have a slight preference for the Delos but this is more subjective than technical. I just feel that the Delos puts up a more pleasing view and a fraction easier/forgiving.

For the purpose you state perhaps your main consideration may actually be construction, weight and bulk. The Pentax is a little smaller (height) and lighter and is made with more "weather proof" materials.

Hope this helps

I am the opposite to Phil above. I don't find eye placement critical in the 10mm or 7mm Pentax XW eyepieces, ( I own both), and I leave the eyecups all of the way in the down positions. I once owned a 6mm Delos and found it a bit more critical for eye placement than the XW's, so I set the eye cup on the Delos higher to avoid blackouts.

Cheers,

I think with EP's this close it comes down to personal preference, your particular use and your eyesight.

If you are down this way you can test out both, one after the other, in my TSA120 scope (which will be closest to your setup)
