The smoothness is a variety of noise managements techniques, some in PS, most in Goodlook (Developed by Mike Berthon-Jones from ASNSW).

Thanks Greg, I put the green down to V1197 Ori, the bright yellow/orange star in the corner. Depending on how I process, the lefthand side can show a lot of blue (Kindergarten painting taught me blue + yellow = green

). I feel it adds nice colours that are not normally represented in modern interpretations

Amazing what downsizing an image can do to hide blemishes.
