Herschel's Ray Ngc 2736.

Hi,

Hot, noisy and not enough data but I'm still happy with this image. Herschel's ray or the pencil nebula is part of the vela supernova remenant. I remember seeing this through my 8" scope with an O3 filter, faint bugger.

I was happy to get as much as I did, and the colour turned out well.
I have another cooler that arrived today for my DSLR, the first one packed up, so I will be able to get some cleaner images from now on.

8" f/4 astrograph, orion mini guider, HEQ Pro 5 mount.

Unmodded canon 1100D baader coma corrector.

8 minute subs at iso 800, total 48 minutes, darks flats and bias frames applied.
Median stack in DSS, processed in PS 7.

This is not an easy object. I've been working on this one over a couple of sessions. I'm up to 3 hours now, but it's not nearly enough.

I use project pluto guide 8 to track down my targets, once I've found something interesting I google it and see whether it's in reach of my setup.
There's usually some images with similar gear.
