With this image only, I added a bit of blue tone. Hue at 240, saturation at 3. Bit of an experiment really.

The key to any deep image is lots of signal. 105 f/5 takes lots of exposure, but the star images to the edge of my 16803 field make it worth all the effort.

i think tonight I am getting smoked out. Clear, but very hazy. I've worked recently to spend more time on my images and fear pushing the image too far.

The sky got very hazy this morning based on the Boltwood readings. I just got word about the big fire near Siding Springs.

My remote observing partner who is one of the managers at the AAT says they are under evacuation orders. Our imaging equipment has been pulled from the remote observatory which is only a few kilometers down the road toward Coona. We are completely shut down. I have no other word on the fire. Their personal safety right now is the priority.

a superb image and I am very sorry that your kit has had to be pulled out. Still, at least Peter (?) has been able to save your kit. I am just wondering what is going to happen to both Siding Springs itself as well as the iTelescope outfit.

I too was poised to move my kit out last week, but the fire did not get that close in the end (although it is still going on).

Hi Martin, Not Peter, but his operation was certanly under threat as were we. I read this morning that observatories at Siding Springs did suffer damage but no news as to how much or what. The remote cameras all seem to be offline.

I hope the fires cause only a temporary halt to the observatories.
I did hear that a few small ones were burnt down - on the TV news this morning.
