Had some clear air at long last and so I thought I would make the most of it by putting my QHY 10 through its paces and sort out calibration frames etc. The scope used was my 5" apo and the images were collected over two nights in Nebulosity 3 and processed in PS3 and PI . 120 min each with 10 or 5 min subs. Unfortunately NGC2246 needs a lot more data as its so faint and affected by the smoke haze from NSW.

I was going to image tonight but the Bribie Island fires are dumping smoke over BrisVegas. Feel guilty writing that as there are so many that have lost all and I'm just missing an opportunity - just feel so sorry for them.

M42 is likely one of the better renditions I have seen! Natural colour etc. Looks fantastic.
Barnard 33 looks good, but the stars are blown out a bit.
Keep going with 2246... been trying for months personally
Thanks for that Lewis, I could redo the stars but my attention was more on getting detail in the faint areas from the small amount of data. The cone is a sod to get clean detail and I figure I need 5x the amount of data.
Some nice images there Allan! The Orion nebula and Horsehead have great colour and detail. There does appear to be a slight glow on the extreme left / centre / right border of the Horsehead nebula on my monitor - could that be a flat frame issue?

Thanks for the nice comments and you are correct in that the LHS has a glow due to the moon's light pollution that a flat wouldn't correct. A DBE in PI also left it there so a better crop would be in order.

weather ,i like ngc2246 but more data would be a bonus ,some nice detail
in orion the qhy10 seems to be working lovely on that scope ,i didnt realize Houghy had a 10 as well as his 8 hmmm might have to get a lend

Thanks for the nice comments Alan. The NGC2246 will look ok once I get a lot more data, but it's cloudy in the extreme at the moment and I'm just hoping to get some more time on it.
Rip the 10 out of his dying hands and use it - at least it will see some photons!!!!!

Again thanks for the kind comments. I have been reading extensively and making copious notes of pixinsight as well as PS3 for processing and found that I am getting deeper into my capabilities and M42 is a brilliant subject to practice on.
