"Side By Side" is available on ABC iView for the next 13 days.
Produced by actor/film maker Keanu Reeves, this documentary interviews many
of the world's leading directors and directors of photography on the
transition from chemical emulsion to digital in film making.
James Cameron, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Steven Soderbergh,
the Wachowski's, Robert Rodriguez, David Lynch and a host of others
put forward their technical insights and opinions on the digital revolution in
cinema.
Reeves also provides a history of the transition to digital including
backgrounds on technical developments at camera makers such as
Sony, Panavision, Red and Arri. He shows how young film makers
are using modest cameras such as the Canon 5D.
Processing, color timing, editing, distribution and projection are
also discussed.
An excellent documentary for those interested in film making.
