Fire Trail (now with video)

Been very dry here lately and we are now into day three of a predicted week or two of 40+ degrees (Celsius) weather. Last night dry lightning storms rolled through the area and kicked off numerous fires. This is a stacked image comprised of about 60 sub frames. This fire was about 10km away. I don't like lightning in conditions like this. My thoughts are with those who have been effected by the much larger and more damaging fires burning across Australia. Please stay safe everyone.

Video can be viewed here if you wish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErWjz5U2bFU

Cheers
Greg

That's really quite an impressive image-very well done!

How long was each frame, and over what time frame, and interval period.

Dreadful heat conditions-hope some much needed rain comes soon.

Thanks everyone It's bitter sweet. I certainly wasn't looking to get a good image out of this. I was more concerned with which direction the wind was blowing. Setting up the camera was more to kill time whilst waiting to see what the fire did. Predicting more of the same tonight here. Fingers crossed it does not occur.

Chris- each frame was 30 seconds long with no delay between shots. Canon 60D with Tamron 10-24mm at 10mm. ISO 500. F/5.6. 150 images for the timelapse and about the first 60 images used for the trail image.

It was running at the same time but I had a longer focal length lens on it and kept on moving it around to try and capture just individual lightning bolts. Might post those pics at some stage.

No, not really Stephen. I felt about 3 drops from where I was.

A very dramatic shot.

Man you are creative. You pull a rabbit out of a hat on a regular basis!

Greg.
