DIY Trolley Plans For A Meade LX200R

I am considering building a trolley for my 10" Meade LX200R. Would appreciate if someone could supply me with or provide a link to a set of plans

have a look at jmi telescopes they make and sell this kind of stuff..there in the states but it could give you some ideas..

I built a trolley just over a year ago for a Meade 10" sct.

Search Meade trolley and you should see the post.

I built it to go over some rough ground, but have sold the scope and trolley since. Didnt really have plans, but if this is the sort of thing you are after then i can send you photos of the build. The hardest thing for me when designing it was visualising what components needed to be made and how to connect them all together.

The trolley worked really well and was surprisingly stable.

I found the thread on your trolley. It looks great. How did you attach the tripod to the trolley ? Did you have levelling screws on the trolley ? Did you build it in steel or alloy ?

Suprised you sold it after all that effort.

Hi Rob,

Sorry for the late reply, I hardly get on here these days.

It's made of wood, believe it or not. To attach the scope to the trolley I used a hole saw to drill angled holes into the top of the frame for the legs to go into. A single bungy cord held the front leg secure whilst moving the set-up, and the weight of the scope held the whole lot in place.

I never added the levellers, I have a level viewing area and found the scope was about as vibration free on the trolley as not. Then I sold it not long after, along with my telescope set up complete, as the old LX50 was not really up to what I wanted to do.
