Hi all,
I thought I'd report that I've finally been able to take the new scope out (10" Bintel Dob) and give it a whirl! I recently discovered that I have access to the roof of the apartment block I live in (very close to the city of Sydney). Not ideal by any means, but marginally better than nothing
We had clear skies in Sydney for about an hour this evening before a bit of thin cloud rolled in. I missed the clear skies, but persevered with trying out the telescope. The weather in Sydney has been so poor of late, just being able to see stars was exciting (pretty sad eh?).
I ended up having a good look at Jupiter, the Moon, Orion's nebula, and a few other things. Jupiter looked pretty amazing

I could just make out the Great Red Spot, and the Galilean moons (Ganymede was really really close to the disc of Jupiter when I was looking at it which made for a pretty cool sight).
I'm looking forward to getting the scope to a much clearer and much darker site in the near future.
Still feeling pretty jazzed
