Old School Scope - from The Avengers

Months ago I was watching an episode of The Avengers. It had some nice old school scopes being used as props.

I had some time today, so I tracked it down on YouTube. The portion of footage that has the scope I would like starts at 40 seconds. Part 2 of 5.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRX8RjLdJGE

Scattered through parts 1, 3, 4 and 5 are some other scopes as well. At least one of them was a mock up.

Diana Rigg (as Emma Peel) is alright too.

This is a really nice piece of kit as well. They went to a bit of effort with the props for this show.

Part 1 of 5 at 1 min 45 sec

Edit: Not so sure about the scope shown at 4 min 35 sec. Looks good though.

Used to love watching the avengers when I was a kid. If you are interested in looking at old classic scopes, I came across this site http://geogdata.csun.edu/~voltaire/classics/. There are some wild scopes

Check this 16" out.

Yes, I always thought so. I have the complete Avengers set on DVD.

The scope is interesting, but that spherical mounting would need a bit of maintenance, I'd imagine.

Great links Stu and Rick. Gonna take a bit of time to trawl though this lot! Lucky it's holidays. Love these old school scopes.

It is fair to say that Mrs Peel's detective skills were probably better than her observations.

The Avengers, From Venus With Love - Part 4 of 5

And Rick , thank you , this is going to kill lots of time during the long wet nights of this wet season , what a gold mine .

And that Newt looks like the origonal " Porta Ball" scope ?

I was thinking along the same lines Brian, and then Wavytone dragged me back to reality (kicking and screaming).
