First Light - M42

Hi All,
My New SW Mak-Newt 190mm arrived and of course I got the excited jitters.

First light exposures using my QHY8L at prime focus:

30x20sec
15x30sec
10x40sec
10x2min
10x5min
1x10min (I was going to do more 10 minute subs but it was getting late and I had work the next day)

Image cropped to frame M42 only.

Stacked with DSS and processed in CS3.

I tested the new scope and I can honestly say I am stooked with it.

Paul

Thanks Dave,
A rough and ready image with some potential, the scope is a step up from the last...no more bad coma. (Just couldn't work it out)

Here's to a clear New Year with lots of visual and imaging.

Great capture Paul.

From what I read, you have an excellent imaging telescope.

Good luck.

Ross.

Thanks Ross,
I am looking forward in really testing out the optics but before that happens I need clear skies. This is an out of the box image with colimation as is. I did the star test which looked good and close. I will check it when the excitement wears down a bit.
