Geminid over Twinstar Guesthouse

I'm sure that many of you are aware of this location already, but for those of you who aren't:

Twinstar Guesthouse is a Bed & Breakfast at Ballandean, in the Granite Belt region of Qld. It's about 3 hours from Brisbane, and about 15 mins from Girraween National Park. As you can see, they host some magnificent, dark skies - and take advantage of this by providing guests with a tour of them using their huge 18" Dobsonian telescope. In some of the other photos I took during my visit, you can clearly see airglow or the zodiacal belt.

I should also mention that Eiji and Naomi (the owners) are some of the nicest people that you'll ever meet.

Of course, in this particular image, my neighbouring guests turned their lights on and opened the blinds - so I AM aware that the front is over-exposed in places... I'll get around to tweaking this image and try to reduce that a little when I get a chance. I'm always open to suggestions though.

Nice image Teale I actually like the overexposed windows. Gives a feeling of warmth and comfort to the image.

Beautiful image. Images like this are why I love Nightscapes Forum. My wife Wendy and I stayed here with Greg Bock and his wife Kathy one winter a few years ago, Eiji and Naomi are the perfect hosts. The accommodation so very well presented, spotless, with many appointments that make you feel at home. The skies are superb and your image has inspired me to take Wendy back there in winter next year.

Thanks for the kind comments. I just wish I knew post-processing a little better. It's all part of a learning curve though, which is part of what makes it interesting!
