M8 in Ha - July 2012

Hey Guys,
This image of M8 taken from the ASV dark sky site in Heathcote, Victoria. At this time, I was in the middle of debugging my optics. Man, f4 is unforgiving. Since I had taken this image, I determined that I had image tilt in the camera with the aid of CCD Inspector. It was the thickness of a single piece of alumina foil. I removed the nose piece of the camera and put a single strip under one corner of the nose piece, and resembled – it did wonders. The previous shot of the Helix was the result of assembling and dissembling and measuring everything looking for flex, and misalignments in the optical train. It is indeed a long exercise.

Image Details.
