ASV Xmas Star-Be-Cue 15 December 2012

This year the ASV Star-Be-Cue will be held on 15th December at the ASV Leon Mow Dark Sky Site near Heathcote.

Members and non-members are welcome, and all the usual Star-Be-Cue highlights will be there - Solar observing, Wine tasting, visit from Santa and BBQ catering by the local Lions Club.

More details available on the ASV Website homepage LINK.

Hope to see you there - I'll be in the dome doing some astrophotography sessions. Feel free to drop by and say hello.

James

I wish, I have only maned the Messier night the last two years running.

I have a family weeding on the day this year so I am out again. I hope you get great weather as per my last two Messier nights.

I would come up late but it is a bit of an ask with an afternoon wedding in Melbourne! I probably won't get away from there before about 7.

Weather does not look good for Friday or Saturday. I'm considering going up tomorrow night to maximise the late rising moon and clear conditions. Cheers, John.

The weather wasn't ideal, but we got enough clear skies to fire up the dome and do some demo sessions. Here's a time lapse of the night showing the clouds later on.

Didn't see any reasonable meteors either.

Still, it was a good night. Thanks to the organisers- see you all again next year.

Robert, the ASV run three `big' star parties each year. The next one is the Messier Star Party which will happen on Saturday, 9th March 2013.
