Mate, I'd bring TWO batteries to Astrofest, just in case.

Those of you who were here Saturday probably heard me struggling with that new vixen newt (R200SS). It wasn't cooperating. But I managed a few hours last night and tjought I'd show you that it does have some potential - once I get the MPCC spacing right.
This is 90 minutes of Ha with 30 minutes each of RGB.

I'm only getting 11.2v with the charger on it, it is stuffed
This ones dated 2006, surely they last longer than 6 years
Under $60 for another one from supercheap.

Nice field of view from that combo Pete but you need to turn the scope around, it's upside down

More whipping of gear into shape - finally (and I do mean finally) got that darned WO FLT110 into service last night for an hour before the clouds came back. Managed to take the first images through it since I started messing with it 3 months or so ago. Long story but I surrendered and took the WO flattener/reducer off and put a plain Hotech flattener on it and imaged M16 at the scope's native FL of 770mm (1.98 as/p) in Ha. The task at hand was to get the G11/Gemini II to guide and secondly to see how sharp the WO can be.
Well, I'm quite happy with the resolution although CCD Inspector shows some tilt that I suspect is in the focuser.
But even so, not unhappy with this first step.

Peter,

Great first light! You might want to try imaging some simple star fields without nebulousity to see what CCDInspector makes of those. It can get a bit confused.

Cheers,
Rick.

The Ghost of Christmas Past speaks!!! G'day Adam.
Friday only I'm afraid but I sure as hell will be making the most of it if it's clear - and all are welcome.

G'day campers.

Well, the moment has arrived: Marie and I are taking off in the old motor home in the morning. In a formidable test of man, machine and marriage, we plan to go west - Longreach, Winton, Hughenden, ChartersT, Emerald and home over about 3 weeks - all in search of the new species of dinosaur that has been found in that area that has been tentatively called the "KattersPartySaurus". I'll report any sightings.

I've got the BabyQ, a HEQ5 and QHY5/8 and Orion OAG all packed away in the hope of finding some clear skies somewhere along the way.

So we won't be throwing the gates open this coming new moon. Next one will be November.

Take care one and all and see you in November!

Peter

I hope you have a wonderful time Peter and Marie.
I reckon a rarer beast to search for would be the "Slipperedoneinasaurus".
Good hunting anyway and I agree with Rick please bring back some dark skies.

Cheers,
Ken.

Have a good trip Pete and remember, don't drop that iPhone

That Hatfields and McCoys mini series comes from the History Channel USA.
I doubt it will ever be aired here.

41 degrees here in Blackall. Reckon the subs might be a bit noisy - so the gear I sill packed away. Hoping for better but expecting it less and less.

G'day guys.
well, we got the gear out last night - the full HEQ5, QHY5/8 Tak BabyQ etc etc and after a bit of goosing about finally managfed an hour on M31 before the battery went flat. Which was timely anyway because the temp dropped to about 8 and I only had on a pair of shorts.
But I did manage to break the drought.
Will process latyer today and post.
cheers
Peter
