Well, I agree that David's judging criteria may be a little opaque, and probably even subjective. But this comp is called the David Malin awards!!

If someone with his vast experience deems an image good, then so be it!
David has said himself he likes images that are "striking". That means colour, detail and composition. EASY!!

. As for my image, a Corona Australis has never taken line honours, so the challenge is to make one good enough to accomplish that. (And BTW, I'll be perfectly satisfied with an HM!!!)
Since there seems to be an undertow of criticism of David's choices, let me ask a question to all. If
you were judging an astro image, what criteria would you use?
