Continuing the vein of drummer jokes that runs through this thread:

Q: How do you know when the drum stage is level?
A: the drummer drools evenly from both corners of his mouth!

Not exactly on my birthday but very close "All You Need Is Love" by The Beatles.
Incidentally the album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" was also released the year of my birth

OZ & UK
Daytripper / We Can Work It Out - The Beatles
US
Turn! Turn! Turn! - The Byrds

At least I know them. But, I just checked on the kids and from this random sample it is safe to say that your parents did not give a rats about what was number 1 when you were conceived or born.

Hi,

It IS cruel. I looked mine up: "Heartache" by Ted Weems. It is absolutely excruciating to listen to

Cheers

They didn't have charts when I was born. Or 45's or 33 1/3......
Probably be something like Glen Miller or Elgar.......

Hi Jenchris,
I'd call you Jen or Jennifer but there's more than one around.

If you give me a month and year that you want to find what songs were popular I have avenues to that info.

Cheers

US: Brenda Lee - "I'm sorry"
UK: Cliff Richards & The Shadows - "Please don't tease"
AUS: Connie Francis - "Everybody's somebody's fool"

I don't know the songs but I know the UK and AUS artists.... I certainly don't remember them playing when I was born!!

Cheers,
Mario

I remember those tunes Mario - my Brother had them on 33 1/3 RPM Lps
The connie francis one was one of those small LPs - the album was yellow with her head semiprofile covering 2/3rds of the sleeve - the name of the LP was 'Who's Sorry Now' it also included Carolina Moon, Stupid Cupid and your song of course. Can't remember the others off hand. But they're in there!

A quick 'google' reveals that the following topped the charts in 1945...

1. Sentimental Journey - Les Brown with Doris Day
2. It's Been a Long, Long Time - Harry James with Kitty Kallen
3. Rum and Coca-Cola - Andrews Sisters
4. On The Atchison, Topeka, and the Santa Fe - Johnny Mercer
5. Till The End Of Time - Perry Como
6. Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive - Johnny Mercer
7. Don't Fence Me In - Bing Crosby with the Andrews Sisters
8. Chickery Chick - Sammy Kaye
9. My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time - Les Brown with Doris Day
10. I Can't Begin To Tell You - Bing Crosby

Thank God times have changed!
