I voted undecided because there was no option to choose "natural phenomena". While I suspect some people have had some fun with some of them, I also suspect that there is some natural meteorological explanation for most of them. Definitely NOT alien.
If you search on the web you'll find sites by groups who made them for years , who have come clean. They'll give you all the instructions how to make a tool which flattens the wheat at the base. There is even 'crop circle designer ' software available.
Crop circles and aliens appeal to people who like to believe that there are beings visiting us who maybe have answers and solutions to our condition who might be ready to take responsibility for the situation, a kind of modern-day father `God' complex. Like astrology it is an industry without any substance but sells lots of books. I mowed a crop circle in my back yard one day to amuse my young nephew.
Here's one that is definitely 'man made', but with a completely valid reason.
I thought it turned out really well. Took a hell of a lot of setting out in such a short time too.

I think it is even worse than you all think. A mate of mine had his whole backyard crop completely dissapear overnight! They must have used lasers as there were only cleanly cut stalks left in the ground. What was amazing was the pattern left behind was in the shape of the crop! It is obvious that it was aliens as there could be no other explanation!
He did not think that gravity waves were involved but he kept muttering something about 'heavy man'.
I think that it is a bit like all these miracles of 'weeping' statues, if they are so powerful and knowledgeable cant they do a bit better than these pathetic manifestations.
Same goes for that twit with psychic powers, the best he could do was bend a few spoons!
I could go on but I have a 10GIG limit per month and I don't want to waste it.

I lived in Wiltshire (the crop circle epicentre) for years, and everyone made a tonne of cash out of the gullible fools who wanted to believe in ET! A decent crop circle earns the farmer UKP20,000 in entry fees to the land.

Why does it only happen in England and the US, why not in China or Russia or South Africa etc etc.......

There are strange things that happen and most can be accounted for but some are totally unexplainable, and what people cant grasp they dismiss it. Many, many years ago the world was flat, every one said its flat but some said it was round . what happened they were put down as being mad hatters spreading untruths. Then we were at the center of the universe and it all revolved around us. Then someone said wait a minute we have a place in space and we are not the center of the universe. What happened to him? it nearly cost him his life. then some one said hey people get sick because of very tiny, so tiny you cant see them, but i know they exist and its living creatures doing it. but hey he was a crack pot to, but today we know different. The trouble today is still the trouble all these select people who were right in the first place had, ignorance and to discredit all that we cant explain.
Why cant the UFO phenomenon be real? all types of people have seen them even very highly train people see things they cant explain but know what they have seen was not man made or did things that we cant. There are 100's of verified on radar and confirmed by trained pilots visually at the same time cases to prove something is going on.
1000s of credible people see UFOs, but millions of people say they don't exist
millions of credible people believe that GOD exists, but no one has EVER seen him, her or it.
I wonder if its because some Alien "teenagers" pinched their mummy's spaceship and decided to do "crop circles" because they are bored !?
I guess you have to be open minded, but WHY is it only done in a wheat crop for? WHY in England and the US? Whenever i have been out pig hunting in wheat crops here i never see crop circles! I dont even hear about them being done here.....thats why i think its humans.....and the English media would report anything and everything if it sells newspapers.....

There are many who are under the impression that crop circles are only indigenous to the U.K. Sure, they are more prevalent here than elsewhere in the world, but there are countless examples of them appearing all over the world - in the USA from 1920, in Europe from the mid 20th century and in Africa, Canada, Australia, Central & Southern America, Russia in 1970, and Japan in the late 70’s.

strange orbs of light are believed to be the reason behind the crop circles. And funny enough orbs of light have been reported at sites that are reportedly haunted. So they might be caused by humans after all, just ones that have stopped breathing............ I have a dvd on crop circles and it shows a bright white orb of light moving along the ground. The people doing the filming were told of the formation in the crop by a local pilot. So they drive out to see it when they get there there are already two air force helicopters there. they are filming then you can see the orb of light moving about. funny thing is when the helicopter pilot knows there around, one of the helicopters buzzes them very close, to close to endanger the general public on a public road. They didn't want them there. If they are not real and made by jokers why are the air force checking them out and checking out the orb of light as well.
UFO's are not little green/grey men from space if they were then they wouldn't be UFO's as the U in UFO stands for Unidentified.
One more thing most of the crop circles in England are near some type of ancient structure like stone mounds and stone hedge. and the crop formations have been going on for a very long time. Thats why they have these ancient markers there. I think the formations the real ones at least have something to do with the area they are in and not something coming to the area to make them. Star trek might not be real but Star gate might be
I've re-looked at the sites I mentioned in post 54 - and I'm now amazed at the quality of the "man made" circles!! So, perhaps they were all man made after all! If so...Job well done chaps!!!
