First New Moon night

This weekend is a non-starter I'm afraid. Our access road in from the front gate is a kilometer of mud and this country is slow to dry out so I am sorry to say that unless you have a hovercraft of a chopper, I won't be seeing you until February.

Those of you who are familiar with TenChain Hill may have noticed our little creek that divides our property. At the moment, it is more of a river than a creek.

Looks like it's our turn in town now.
Another meter odd and I'll be cut off from the pub

I reckon you could turn that dome upside down and paddle it like a coracle

February New Moon

Folks, there's no predicting what may happen but Saturday 5th February seems worth setting aside for our first TenChain New Moon Night since Moses crossed the Rubicon in a hatbox (or whatever the story is).
I'll monitor Skippy and post here again as we get a little closer but for the moment at least, the internal road is open. I can't vouch for the external roads at that time but can say that right now, the Mt. Glorious Road is closed as is the road at Fernvale so access to us is via Caboolture/Kilcoy or, if you can get there, via Gatton/Esk. I'm sure that'll be a much less unhappy situation after a couple of weeks have passed though.

Hi Pete
It's only been a year since I was last there. Looking forward to getting out of the house.

Happy Anniversary Martin! I think there'll be quite a few of us cabin-fever sufferers who would sacrifice an appendage or two for a night of stars. Here's hoping.

Looking forward to it, Peter! I should have a tripod for my AP 900GTO by then and hopefully the correct filter-wheel for my Starlight Xpress H18. With luck, I'll even get a chance to test everything in advance...

Cheers,
Rick.

On ya pete, eternally optomistic, that's what we want to see. Sif it will clear before 2012

But just to hedge my bets, I have a spare 2" mounted starlight carousel Rick and I can put 5 filters in it for you. No tripod though.

May aim for the fifth Peter, even if its only to see if Robyn can find his Tri-pad
in the long grass

We're off to tassie on the 9th, so SHMBO will sure to have me grounded before we go

Otherwise may sneak up with the HDTV, before once the pergola is finished.

Just outside after a P and that bloody floodlight is on again! Maybe you could take potshots with your 12" Naval Gun

BTW thanks for the PUSA tips, works great.

Ahhhhh Shoot!! Here it comes again

Folks, it probably no surprise to anyone to discover that the February New Moon will bring with it a cyclone from the deep Pacific. I won't be around for the March NM and April is in doubt due to possible work commitments overseas. It's a miserable outlook but that's the way it is!!
Hope you all survive the cyclones OK and look forward to seeing you - someday.

Struth Peter! That means no Doctor visits for 3 months!

By then we'll both have aperture fever and not much cure

Perhaps a BBQ & group hug in the cool clear nights of May & June

Peter, I remain optimistic for the feb new moon.....mainly as I have been given a rare 2 night pass. I was going to try to come up Friday night after work, if you are about....?

I will keep my eye on skippy.

Adam, your optimism is laudable. It should be rewarded in any just world. If the weather allows, all and sundry are welcome to come up. (I have to admit to having a selfish motive for hoping you can make it up - I need that counter-weight). But I am reconciled to disappointment because I have decided to develop a new form of thought based entirely on negativity, cynicism and gloom - in this new system of thought, if you can manage to keep your expectations suitably low, every day is a winner.
