Funnily-enough, I have a couple of these coming, so one will also be diverted to the kids.

Astro78,

Got the mail details thanks.
Along with the eyepiece will be a Meade MYSky about 8 months old. May I suggest you talk to Gy Wen Ho (Therapist) and you show her how to use it and how to store it. It works well (bought from my mates at Bintel) latest updates etc. Should be a fun techno aid for the kids.
I will send tomorrow by XPress post.
PeterM.

Hi Astro,

I have a 1.25" 3x GSO Barlow (if this suits?) as well as a 1.25" 15mm WA eyepiece I can contribute if this will help?

According to IIS I am only 27km from Astro78 so I can drop these over whenever you need me to if they are needed/wanted.

Cheers

Chris

Hey, I just had a thought,

Astro, now that we have almost a complete scope, and many other bits etc, perhaps if you are talking to Bintel or Andrews, you could possibly ask for a donation of an aluminium eyepiece case (value $49) to fit all these burgeoning eyepieces in for the kiddies?

Of course, if they want to chuck in more than this, (like an Astronomy 2010 mag, starwheel, compass,) well, that would be great too.

Cheers

Chris

Hey Chris, I think the 15mm Wide would be used more than the 3x barlow but I certainly wont refuse on their behalf

Thanks mate, this is just such a positive thread, i'm beside myself.

Great ideas, especially the aluminium case. We'll probably have to purchase these, after speaking to both companies, but that's cool.

We now have our own webpage through Every Day Hero .com.au (as requested by Bear Cottage)

Donations go via this non for profit website straight to Bear Cottage, Sydney.

Hiya Nicholas, that would be great! We have two bino's pledges thanks to Dave and Robert. This includes some huge 10-90 x 80's - so yes adapter needed for sure

I will be throwing in my bino adapter and a redundant tripod (although not very good ) along with the bushnells. But since another member is also throwing in a set of binos. Might be worthwhile.

Rob.

After reading all these replies of support, it makes me wonder if we should be doing more as a community, in pro-actively seeking out these groups to donate old equipment to.

If we are all willing, then perhaps we should investigate other needy groups also.

I can't beleive I missed this thread last night.
I can donate 2 orion ultra wide eyepieces that are as new and I no longer need. 6mm, 9mm 66 degree expanse. These are great on the moon and planets . Also I have a new low power 40mm Meade super plossl if thats required as well. These should give them a nice set with Peters 26mm. or if these are not required let me know and I will make a cash donation.

Pm me with the details where to post the eyepieces down to you.

Regards Matt.

Hi Guys, Donations now set up, direct to Bear Cottage, through the following website - http://www.everydayhero.com.au/scope...copes_for_kids

Not a dollar will go to waste. We'll poll what additional equipment we want to purchase and then what's left is all pure cash - much needed $$$$

Welcome onboard Nicholas, Rob and Matt

Absolutely Mitchell, totally agree. I personally hope to grow the now titled "Scope Soldiers" into something pretty big. Money and donations is one thing BUT so is getting out there with our equipment and enthusiasm for the cosmos.
