Looks like I'm not going to be able to attend my first "Malins".

I was looking forward to meeting all you colourful characters.

Perhaps next time (touch wood!)

All the best.
Doug

That's a shame, Doug. Would've been great to meet you.

I'll accept the award on your behalf

I will not be there either. In China at the time and preparing for the Eclipse of the century. Hopefully getting next years winning solar system entry.

So Strongman, can't make it this time big guy, wanted to be there and I just know we would have got kicked out again at the end of the night. I could feel some hi jinx coming on too. You can accept my award for me, try to think of something gracious to say won't you?Just think what I would say. Just make sure they send it to me after you accept it.

Have a great time all, wish I could be there but I think I will take the eclipse over the Malins.

NO probs Paul, that's three awards I will be accepting, mine, yours and Houghy's, I will be sure to keep the best camera for myself too and give you guys the dregs

I think there will be an Italian flavour to the evening so I am dusting off my opera voice just in case, although it was written some 200yrs after his death, I am sure Galileo would have liked the aria Nessun Dorma, it even mentions looking at the stars too.

As I said in this thread, if you haven't booked accommodation yet, you might want to get in quick!

I was lucky enough to get a congratulations email as well.
Well done every one else. As others have said, a real honour to get recognition from DM for your images (HM or whatever).
I am planning on having a look over the dish Sat afternoon so may see some of you there, if not at the dinner.
Rgds, and all the best to everyone in the "finals".

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it this weekend after all

I'm very disappointed, especially because I wanted to check out the Dish as part of the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11 celebrations - not to mention enjoy an Astrofest dinner with friends from IceInSpace.

I found out this morning I have to go to Melbourne for work next week (ALL WEEK), and after being away on the Sunshine Coast last week (for 3 nights), it was just too much to put my family through to be away this weekend as well.

So I'll spend the weekend at home and fly off to Melbourne on Monday morning

I hope you guys have a great time and I can't wait to see the pics.
