Report from the eye:

I've been intouch with my folks and sister all morning. Mum and Dad live at Tully Heads and my sister live in behind Mission beach in the hills (Mum and Dad stayed with them for the night).

Fairly extensive property damage in the area. They managed to ride it out safely and were lucky to have only minor structural damage. My sisters house is on a bit of a hill and used to look over rainforest in one direction and cane and bananas in other directions. They are now looking out over cleared hills and flat plains. Hardly a plant left standing anywhere. They are thanking their lucky stars. The house across the road is no longer there apparently, just the house stumps. My sisters house is only 12 months old. Mum and dad haven't finished building their house yet and don't know how it went.

At least they are all safe.

I'm still trying to get in touch with my Dad in Innisfail. There phone seems to be down though. I guess I'll have to wait it out.
The Innisfail police have been helpful though and will let me know as soon as they hear anything.

Good to hear that they are safe - that is the main thing. Hopefully the other house faired well.

Hoping everyone came through the storm as well as possible.

Looked pretty hairy from afar...

Finally got in touch with my Dad. 2 trees are leaning on the roof of their house, and their fruit trees have dissapeared, the caravan has been crushed, but everyone is safe. Both houses on either side of them have lost their roofs so they are considering themselves extremely lucky.

He said that being in the eye of the storm was amazing. It was eerily quiet and they were just waiting for it to hit again.
Hope everyone else is ok.
Jodie

Thanks Ron
Mum & Baby are home now & we have just about completed our post Cyclone cleanup.

Glad to hear your family fared OK, It is nothing short of a miricale that no one was seriously injured or worse in the Innisfail & Tablelands area.

I am glad everyone came through in good health, but the property and crop damage is heartbreaking.
I hope it doesnt take to long for things to get back to some semblance of order.
