Ahh Mike, you keep stretching the crap out of 6" pics (to great effect I might add)
Err..well, that's the scope I have....

in a sort of crusade to prove or justify no need for or delay the need for a 16". Physics will beat you in the end my friend, imagine what this amount of effort would do with a 16" he.
Not to mention my bank account

There is always my inheritance I guess ...but (thankfully) mum and dad look pretty strong still though

Good idia using just luminance too, as your camera is getting the full spectrum of light, vastly exceeding the QE of schmidt plate film.

Thanks Scott

A deep multi night exposure more natural looking version ala my deep Cen A was my intention...buuuut time and patience and weather and the hassle of my portable rig got the better of me in the end .

Yes I haven't seen another amateur (or pro come to think of it..?) image that shows these features either

Quite amazing all the data you got out of that noise. We're going to need sun glasses looking at your pics when you move up in aperture.

David Malin was very impressed too - considering his image was part of the composition I sent it to him for a look.

The surface brightness of this stuff is very low. It's a lot to do with the camera too, very low read noise at -30C and relatively sensitive plus reasonably careful calibration.

You are quite right, 20hrs with a 12" F3.8 say...would blow your eyes for sure
