HRH & I fitted the $2 shop flags to the boat and set off on a River cruised up the Tamar to Middle Island, a tiny Island in the middle of the Tamar River between Bell Bay and Beauty Point.

We stopped for a quick walk, knowing any more than a few minutes would mean staying until the tide (ebbing) ran through a cycle. I returned hastily to move to a safer anchorge after just 10 minutes (around 1PM), probably six minutes too late, the good ship "Sea Fisher" was high & dry and we were shipwrecked on a desert..ed island.

We walked some more, then ate our meagre supplies (Roast Lamb & Mint Jelly Roll, Cherries & Grapes), taking care not to quaff all our water at once. My calculations had the tide returning to set us free at 4:30Pm, in reality it was 5Pm.

We spent the last hour guesstimating the time that the water level submerged various sandbars, twigs and rocks and finally the boat.

It was a fun day, very relaxing being stranded without any hope of escape.

Google kmz of the shipwreck site attached.

I celebrated my birthday too! As I knew no one would be around to do so the following day.

I fired up the ride-on mower and mowed the front paddock, then cut a firebreak in the back paddock.

Caught a bit of the cricket in the afternoon and finished off the day with a BBQ on the verandah and washed down with a few home brews.

All in all it was a great rural Australia Day.

Cheers
