"A description on an eBay auction for a damaged 1979 Cessna. The plane was being sold "as is" for parts, or for fixing up, if you had deep pockets: "This aircraft experienced fuel exhaustion, lost power and landed off airport with the gear retracted ,resulting in substantial damage."
In other words, the plane ran out of gas and crash-landed. I love it. I e-mailed the seller (you can on eBay, ask questions, cost of shipping, whatever) and congratulated him on the tremendous politically correct euphemisms. He told me he worded it that way so as not to offend the renter pilot who dinged it up, and the pilot's attorney. (The chap was selling the plane for the insurance company."
